In short: A custom PHP website loads faster, has nothing to patch every week, and gives you an admin panel that only does what you need. Over three years it usually costs less than a WordPress site once you count plugins, hosting upgrades and the redesign when it breaks.
What a typical WordPress business site looks like after two years
A premium theme, a page builder, forty plugins, a caching plugin to hide the slowness, and a login page that half the internet's bots know about. It works, mostly, until an update does not. We have rebuilt dozens of these for clients in Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and the pattern is the same every time.
What we build instead
A hand-written site in PHP 8 with a MariaDB database: one CSS file, one small JavaScript file, images converted to WebP, and an admin panel that edits exactly the things you change — pages, offers, portfolio, blog. There is no plugin marketplace because there is nothing to plug in.
Why it matters for rankings
Google's ranking systems reward pages that satisfy the search and load without friction. A custom build gives us total control over headings, structured data, internal links and speed. Every page passes Core Web Vitals because nothing on it is there by accident.
When WordPress is still the right call
